Google is transitioning its podcasting service from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music, launching a migration tool in the United States for users to move their accounts. This move follows the announcement made in September of the current year regarding the closure of Google Podcasts.
Users in the U.S. will be able to access content on Google Podcasts until March 2024. The app will offer the functionality to transfer or export subscriptions until July of the next year.
To use the migration tool, users need to click on the “Export subscriptions” button at the top of the screen, followed by choosing the “Export to YouTube Music” option. For those who do not have the YouTube Music app installed, the process will prompt them to download it.
This shift underscores Google’s strategy to consolidate its audio content services, placing YouTube Music at the forefront of its podcasting offerings.
