This move impacts Android applications that facilitated messaging with iMessage users. Apple justifies this action as a necessary step to safeguard the security of its users. The company points to risks associated with using alternative login data, including metadata leaks, spam, and phishing attacks.
An instance highlighting this issue is the Android app Beeper Mini, which has ceased to function due to Apple’s new restrictions. Nevertheless, the developers of Beeper Mini claim that their cloud-based version, Beeper Cloud, remains operational. They are actively working on adapting their main app to comply with Apple’s updated policies.
