At first, when the overheating controversy began to happen, a theory began to circulate on the Internet. Analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo attributed the overheating problems to the titanium frame used in the iPhone 15 Pro, ensuring that this material was worse at dissipating heat. In addition, Kuo spoke of compromises in the design of the thermal system of these iPhones.

Those from Cupertino responded by blaming the optimization of iOS 17 and third-party applications. Both factors were effectively causing this overheating. As if that were not enough, MacRumors claims that Apple has specified that, precisely, the aluminum frame is better at dissipating heat than the stainless steel frames of the old iPhones.

This is not what Kuo believes, who made it clear that, in his opinion, Apple would be forced to reduce the performance of the A17 Pro to adjust for the temperature problem. At the moment, this update has not specified anything about this power reduction, and Apple has already specified that the applications that cause this overheating are about to be updated. Some, like Instagram, have already done it.

On the other hand, the company has also assured that users could have problems during the initial use of the phone: “The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the phone due to increased background activity.”
